The health care industry has been thrown into the spotlight this 2020, responding to a pandemic that has ultimately revealed its systemic gaps and need to innovate. Yet even before this, the sector had already gone through tremendous growth, encompassing far more than traditional and even alternative care. According to the Global Wellness Institute, the global health and wellness industry – which also includes wellness real estate, workplace wellness, healthy eating, nutrition, & weight loss, and wellness tourism, among others – registered a growth rate of 12.8 percent from 2015 to 2017, with market value increasing from $3.7 trillion to $4.2 trillion.
